How to Identify Square D QOB Bolt-on Circuit Breakers With 120 Volt Shunt Trips

First lets learn how to identify a Square D Bolt-on Circuit Breaker.

First you have the Circuit Breaker Type, for these it is QOB. The QOB Circuit Breaker is only manufactured by Square D and no other brand of Circuit Breaker will fit in the NQ, NQOD and NQOB Panelboards

All QOB Circuit Breakers Regardless of the Interrupting Capacity, Will Always Start With The Breaker Type. In this case it is QOB.

Next, the first number determines how many poles the circuit breaker has. It will be 1, 2 or 3 Poles.

The last 2 or 3 numbers is the amperage the last two numbers for 15 to 90 amp. Three numbers would be for 100 or 125 amp. Here is an example

QOB350  QOB (breaker Type) 3 (Three Pole) 50 (50 Amp)

QOB220  QOB (breaker Type) 2 (Two Pole) 20 (20 Amp)

The QOB Circuit Breaker comes standard and also with a pre-installed Shunt Trips. The Square D QOB Shunt Trip Circuit Breaker Part Numbers Below all have 120 Volt Shunt Trips installed.

The suffix at the end of the part number (1021) is for only 120 Volt Shunt trips. There are other suffix’s for different voltages.
